Customer Review: Unneeded, not well made, don't buy it.
I bought this item because I like to have the original OEM products and accessories from a company when I make an electronics purchase (in this case, the Flip Mini HD with I am enjoying). This case is hard to open and get the camera into, the hook is cheap, and it is just pretty useless overall. Don't buy it. Get a third-party case that holds more (like the optional USB cable and stand).

I've used this for several weeks. Yes it adds a fair amount of weight to the camera but I don't mind that. If you want to keep your camera very light then you might want to avoid this. I really like to take a lot of photos without worrying about running out of battery power. I have used it exclusively with the 6 AA cell battery sled. I use NiMh batteries and these when fully charged will show a battery reading of low on the XT indicator. However, this will not affect the functioning of the camera. NiMh have a lower voltage when fully charged then the Lithium battery that comes with the camera. I'm still on my first charge and I've taken probably 200 flash pictures and 400 - 500 standard pictures. No signs of running out of juice yet. The overall quality of the Canon adapter is great and it gives a lot of surface to grip onto.

OK ... I bought this for several reasons ... 1 - Good reviews, duh. 2 - I didn't like switching out batteries in the middle of taking a run of pictures. 3 - Ease of portrait oriented images ... 4 - Solid feel in my hands 5 - Canon-made good quality :o) Now ... on to the story of why I want to buy another one ... I went to the Morton Arboretum last summer ... I was running late ... completely unusually oblivious to the camera I was juggling in my hands ... BAM ... dropped my expensive DSLR over three feet to the unforgiving blacktop-covered parking lot ... OMG OMG OMG ... I bent over ... picked it up ... looked the entire camera over ... a scuff on the lens hood ... however the battery grip didn't fare so well ... the corner where the shooting button was ... yes I said WAS ... well the camera must have landed on that corner because a nice sized chunk of plastic was broken off ... After a complete check of the grip ... the battery grip works as a grip, the batteries work fine ... in fact, I dunno if it's just me but it seems like the batteries last a lot longer as a duo, the down side ... I can't use it to take portraits easily due to the button damage ... and it looks a little shabby due to the damage. After a complete check of the camera ... the camera was just like new! Nothing wrong with the camera body or lens! I have since taken thousands of pictures with the same camera/lens/grip combo ... all is perfect! I could not feel more lucky!!! I thought about removing the grip ... but I feel it saved me $900 for the camera plus $550 for the lens ... plus it still works like it did before (except that button issue) ... and I like the extended battery life ... Maybe the grip's weight pulled it towards the ground ... Whatever reason ... I want another one ... it's on my wish list :o) ... and some day it will be mine!! I whole heartedly recommend this accessory!!

I've read so many reviews on how great this item is and for the cost. Personally, I didn't buy this item for the batteries. I bought it for the grip. Pros: Built close to Canon grip. Nice to have slip resistant grip. Extra batteries area always nice to have. Cons: Controls (wheel+buttons) feel like their going to break if I use them. Buttons work, intermittently. One doesn't even work at all. Price. If all you want is to beef up your camera body, you can buy a similar item for half the cost of the Opteka. I've never owned a true Canon grip so I am basing my review off the camera body controls. Honesly, I wouldn't buy this again. Yeah, I've fattened my body but the controls are nearly worthless. I don't use them anyways so I can't complain too much. But hey, at least I won't run out of batteries =)
Customer Review: Excellent for the price
For about half the price of the Canon-branded grip, and with two batteries, the price on this seemed too good to be true, but worth a shot. As it turns out, it's very difficult to tell the difference between this one and the Canon one (I've used the Canon one, but didn't own one). Some nice details that weren't really clear in description: You can use one or two NB-2LH batteries, and they don't have to be equally-charged; and there's a full set of controls on the grip, not just a shutter release. It's a lot more useful than I'd expected, and the battery life is now absurdly long.

Customer Review: A perfect bag for carrying 1 DSLR camera + 2-3 total lenses and flash
This is a perfect bag for carrying: - 1 DSLR camera with 70-200mm f/2.8 (i.e. big) zoom lens attached (mine is Nikon 80-200mm f/2.8 which is comparable in size and weight with Nikon 70-200mm f/2.8) - 1-2 additional lenses and/or flash (I put 17-80mm and 50mm f/1.8 lenses and the SB-400 flash - a couple memory cards and extra battery It's pretty sturdy and tight (with the stabilizing strap), but that's good because the camera and lens won't move much inside the bag. Here are the pros and cons: Pros: 1. Can fit SLR attached with the big 70-200mm f/2.8 lens (or equivalent) 2. Enough room for extra lenses and flash 3. Topload feature for easy access 4. Sturdy and good padding to protect the expensive equipment inside 5. Slim profile and more discreet design (vs some other pro camera bag) 6. Stabilizing strap to minimize movement 7. Lots of compartment for memory cards, batteries, lens cap, etc 8. Less than 3 lbs, and compact size 9. All weather cover is nice to have (and essential for professional) 10. Expandable (i.e. you can manage the divider/padding to create different size of space) Cons: 1. Only take 1 full size SLR (I tried 2 D40s + 18-55mm and it works) 2. A bit pricey (for my amateur standard) 3. Close to 3 lbs (depend on how you see it) 4. Not a backpack model (if you prefer carrying backpack type bag when photographing) 5. Can't put your regular 15 inch laptop in this bag (however you can squeeze in the 8.9 inch netbook). If you want to add your regular notebook, you will need to get the Lowepro Classified 250 AW series 6. Might be a bit too much bag/space for a quick short trip where you don't need to bring your 70-200mm f/2.8 lens (use the Lowepro Topload Zoom series bag instead) 7. Not as easy (as I thought it would be) to pull out the camera in and out of the bag but it's reasonable (maybe it's because of the design and position of the zipper and the fact the bag is still stiff since it is new. I'm expecting it will get better as the bag will get softer/break-in with use) In conclusion, this is a very good (and very stylish) bag if you want to carry a camera attached with the 70-200mm f/2.8 lens (or smaller lens), with 1-2 extra lens (smaller lenses than the 70-200mm f/2.8) and/or flash.

Customer Review: Does this need an adapter?I was really looking forward to this item, only to receive it and find that I could not easily attach it to the Canon G-10. I'm having a difficult time trying to contact the manufacturer to find out if I need an adapter. Any help is greatly appreciated.

I agree with the reviewer before me. "The more powerful the zoom the darker it gets." I'm wondering if I wasted my money on a product that isn't really very helpful to me. It does have its good points though, It takes very clear pictures of written items. Like very very far away written items. For example, a street sign. But your hands have to be very steady. And that's a little hard to do when you just want to keep taking photo after photo. Other than that, it was really a waste. It's hard to make it to do your bidding.

Whereas the Flip Mino is indeed the easiest-to-use video camera I've ever come across, and it's sleek and practical to carry, the question of downloading and editing videos is not as easy as it seemed. Having only 2 usb entrances on my laptop, one of which is needed to connect to the internet, printing a document while a video mix is being created is not an option.

Yes. I'm an enthusiastic hobbyist - probably more comfortable with the science than the art of photography. I've used polarizers for about 20 years but must admit usage tailed off after the switch to digital from working with mostly slide film. I replaced a Hoya polariser that had received a bit of a ding and was hard to rotate. The Nikon replacement is considerably thinner and easier to work with. It's now something I take off my 50mm 1:1.4D when I come indoors as opposed to something I put on sometimes when I'm outdoors.

Customer Review: Why Doesn't Canon Do This?
I bought this book because David Busch's "Canon EOS 5D Mark II Guide to Digital SLR Photography" won't be available for several months. I was very pleasantly surprised by the intelligent layout and the clear and concise instructions. I've spent over 8 hours, so far, with the book and my camera and flash and I've not been confused or bored for one moment. This book has actually made me eager to keep up with my study of the 5D Mark II's technological tour-de-force. It's a shame that Canon has never put as much effort and intelligence behind its manuals. Now, if only someone would produce an instructional DVD of the same quality, I'd be a happy camper.

I got this because I lost my original Dig. Rebel XT charger. I needed a charger, but didn't want to spend 50 dollars on one from Canon. The extra batters work great in my camera, I dont know if their battery life compares to the original, because i haven't ran them down yet, but they dont seem very bad, and now I have three batteries, so it doesn't really matter if they last a little bit less. The charger works fine, it holds the batteries weird. They have to be in the center of it, and it took me a couple tries to figure out how to get them in there, it's not a very good design, but it works for now.

I bought these binoculars for bird watching and for that purpose they work great. I have a pair of 10x50 and although I really like them I wanted something smaller and steadier. I will still use my 10x50's but more for raptors in flight or bird watching in the woods, these ones are a lot more confortable when watching birds at a medium range, casual bird watching around the house or simply trying to follow a bird to its nest (due to the large field of view). There is some distortion around the outer edges but it isn't bad, I actually only noticed it because I was deliberately looking for it. The images are sharp and I am surprised at how bright the images are considering the price and size of the lenses. Some bird watching sites would have you believe that you have to spend an arm and a leg on a pair of binoculars in order to bird watch properly, that is not the case. This pair will show all the detail on birds (even the tiny ones).

As an amateur astronomer, I am always on the lookout for good binoculars, and have had experience with quite a few - even a few very highly rated high-end types. I saw the Nikons in a sporting goods store about 6 months ago, and was impressed at the clarity and depth of field apparent even within the store. After asking permission to take them outside, observations confirmed my initial impressions. They are nearly as bright (and clearer, better color rendition) than a "standard" brand 7x50 - perhaps because of excellent multi-coatings. The 9+ degree FOV makes them ideal for digging out fainter constellations and asterisms. Stars remained point-like nearly to the edge of the field. True, I couldn't see too many Messier# galaxies, but you can't see many with ANY 7x bino, most requiring at least a decent 10x50. The compact size also makes these useful for daytime applications, such as birdwatching and other nature related activities, or watching athletic events. This was my first experience with Nikon binoculars, and based on this purchase I soon bought the Nikon 10x50s as well. Although I thought I got an incredibly good buy at the time, I have since learned I could have saved 15% by buying on-line - no matter, they are still "keepers" with which I will never part. An incredible value. For the casual user, they may be all the binocular you will ever need.

The Canon Rebel is almost perfect. It's easy to use, and it's versatile. I have been using it for snapshots of family and friends, and I've been using it for serious photographs taken at various local landmarks. The Rebel works well in both situations. Even a beginner can learn to use this camera, and they can be taking great pictures right out of the box.

This is my first digital camera. I went from a 35mm to a digital SLR, which is a huge change. I purchased the kit, so it came with 2 lenses, an 8gb memory card, batteries, case, etc. - VERY good deal. I'm having so much fun taking pictures and "experimenting" with my new camera, however, I hardly know the first thing about using it. I'm just learning a lot by reading the manual and playing around with it, so, if anyone has any "tips", feel free to let me know. I was going back and forth between a Nikon vs Canon. One of the reasons I decided on the Canon was because of the "live view" option. I am a little disappointed, however, that when in the live view mode, you cannot look thru the eyepiece at the same time. Maybe this is normal? (I still love my camera, tho.)

I just got back from a 10 day trip to Israel and Rome. I wore the case around my waist, using the waist strap. It kept my camera always in the ready. I also attached my camcorder case to the waist belt so I had it ready too. There is just enough storage in the holster to carry essentials: extra memory cards, battery, filter.... I was disappointed that the spare battery was not a canon battery but an off-brand. It did work fine though... The rest of the stuff is really cheap. I didn't purchase this package for them though so I was OK with it. The holster also comes with a fairly nice padded shoulder strap. But I can't imagine using it since it works so well fastened around my waist.

I tend to shoot time-lapse with my Rebel and if I use the flash I use a lot so this perfect. The batteries that come with it are NOT as powerful as the Canon ones. So Its probably a good idea to have 2x Canon Batteries mix them with 2x Generic. I was able to get about 6-7 hours of shooting taking a photo ever 30s or every 1min no flash no preview screen etc.. Also a huge plus to this for anyone that shoots a lot is the side buttons.
