Optically its great but the 1.4x doesn't amount to much in the real world. You also have to remember to change the custom function when taking it on and off which is a small hassle. I find I dont ever need it and wish I hadnt purchased it. Im sure ther is something stronger for less out there.

Great for the semi-professional parent with a baby or toddler. Love the crisp pictures it takes and I have a digital I also use but I've always held film in a special place since being my college editor back in the late 80's and early 90's before digital was the boom. I bought this camera from Walmart for my birthday present a year ago but had been drooling over it for longer then that. After a year i had to send it back to Cannon to have service because a problem when i first put it together (never put a camera together while driving it gets dust inside the mirror cavity). The camera cost me just under 200 the repairs and shipping cost me over 200 more and they didn't get the dust out! I've learned my lesson because the dust never shows up on a print(yea!!!) the pictures look great! I even achieved a stop motion on a fountain while not knowing what the heck i was doing. All i need now is lessons on how to use all the features that I've been playing with (usually without film in) all in all I love this camera and it's sad that it seems to be the last film SLR that cannon plans on making.

I had two significant problems with this cord. It doesn't maintain function when you use a 580exII fully locked on the hot shoe. If you only slide the locking mechanism over halfway you can get the synch function but flash wasn't secure. My first shoot with this cord was a wedding. Halfway through the reception the hotshoe on the cord became loose from the bottom portion where it connects to a flash bracket. Bottom line if you are planning to use a 580exII save your money get canon or another brand. It worked okay with my 430ex but after the bracket connecter started to wobble that rendered it useless.

Are you satisfied with the flip-up flash on your camera? As a matter of fact I was, until my wife got me this 580EX II for my birthday. I shoot most of my photos in natural light so the flash on my camera was just convenient enough to do the job. Wait `til you get your hands on a real flash. It will open up a new world you never knew. I haven't had chance to use it's full extent and I'm still having fun with my experiments, but don't worry your 580EX comes with a brain of its own that you can depend on until you feel comfortable. Oh, and don't forget to get yourself a diffuser. Sto-Fen OmniBounce should meet your budget.

I used these to attach some Nikon and Zeiss manual-aperture lenses to my Canon EOS 5D Mark II to regain manual control over aperture settings when shooting video. They worked fine, no big issues. I wish the little tab you use to unlock the adapter from the lens were a bit more solidly-built; it feels like it might break after maybe 100+ operations. This is the reason (among several others) that I'm buying a few more units of this adapter, so I can just attach one to each of my Nikon manual lenses and leave them there. Overall, for the price they're perfectly fine. I can't justify spending $150 apiece for the competing brands, not right now at least. I'm hoping I won't be proven wrong in the long run :)

This is the third Nikon Digital Field Guide I've bought (the D300 was the first), and all of them have been great! I bought a D5000 for my fiancé and the D5000 Digital Field Guide right along with it. When I bought my D300, I realized how helpful the books are to get you over the learning curve. Being a relative beginner to photography, my fiancé really appreciated this book and is taking some incredible pictures because of it. One of the things I like about this series is that the author goes over all of the buttons and menus in fine detail, explaining exactly what each one does and gives examples of when you might need to use specific functions (and when NOT to use them). The user manual is so technical and hard to read; my fiancé uses this book exclusively. A cool section of note is the Real World Applications section. With each type of photography, you get tips on how to get your photos to look professional, which is excellent for hobbyists and beginners. I've been very happy with this series and highly recommend this book.

Being a middle school journalism teacher, I have to learn each new camera we get quickly so I can teach my students how to use it effectively. The Digital Field Guides are perfect for this. The D5000 Digital Field Guide allowed me to learn the ins and outs as well as some cool tricks without having to spend months with the camera. This guide is easy to read and very informative. It's also quite compact so I can stick it in the camera bag in case anyone has a question while we're out on a photo excursion. The author does a great job of getting right to the point while being informative as well. I love the Digital Field Guides, they take all of the work out of learning a new camera.

I don't pretend to understand exactly why, but I have tried epson, hp, the local no-name brands, and this canon paper for my canon pixma printer. With no fidgeting, no adjustments other than telling the printer what paper it's feeding, this paper produces amazing results. The other brands do not work with my pixma printer... in fact, other than moderately acceptable results with epson paper, they produced unsatisfactory results. This is the paper to use for your canon printer. As I said, I don't pretend to know why, I just know that I've wasted enough time and money messing with the other papers to have bought a years supply of this paper which would have kept me happy on every print.

Customer Review: Great all-in-one lens for full frame DSLR's
To clear up some of the confusion regarding how this lens will perform, there are two classes of Nikon DSLR's. The first use a sensor smaller than 35mm, about the size of the old APS film cameras, hence the term "APS class." These include the D50,70,80,90,200, etc. The smaller sensors mean every lens has a built in zoom (or crop factor) of about 1.5. This is why wide angles for these DSLR's have been 18mm while for film it used to be 24-28mm. Lenses built for the smaller sensors also have a circle (inner lens opening) that is smaller than the older film lenses. On these type cameras this lens would perform like a 43-450mm or thereabouts. Newer Nikons like the D3,D3X, and D700 are "full frame" and have sensors the same size as 35mm. There is no crop factor, and they can work correctly with film lenses. This Tamron is essentially a film lens, and works best on a full frame camera. I've heard to be wary of superzooms such as this, as they tend to have distortion at the wide and tele ends and have a small maximum aperture at the tele end. At 300MM it is f6.3 max, and that's not very good, but my D700 has such good high ISO performance I just crank it up and don't worry about. The focus is an old screw drive so it's a little slow and noisy, and it is plastic. (The focus also won't work on the D40, it needs lenses with a built in motor.) I also would prefer it have been 24mm rather than 28mm, but you can't have everything. However, I've been very happy with the pictures it takes. They have good color rendition, the distortion isn't readily noticeable, and they're nice and sharp across the screen. If I blew the photos up I'd probably see a lot of differences compared to a high end "pro" lens, but that misses the point. This is a "walk around" lens intended for situations where you can/want only to take one lens with you. In that role the Tamron works very well.
Customer Review: Non-VC Tamron 28-300 is way better than VC version
To put what you are about to read in context, I am an accredited photojournalist and have won several awards for my photography. I originally bought this non-VC Tamron 28-300 mm lens when I bought my Nikon D-100. I was on a tight budget and the camera store recommended it, so I took their advice. I have since upgraded my cameras several times, now shooting primarily with a Nikon D3, with a D300 as a second camera body. I also have several Nikon lenses, for limited-use applications. The problem is a lack of a broad range, Nikon brand zoom lens for their full frame FX sensor Nikon cameras (as opposed to DX lenses for the smaller chip). Even though I never use my D100 anymore, most of my shots taken with the D3 are taken in combination with my trusty Tamrom 28-300mm lens. It consistently takes good photos. I made a huge mistake a few months ago by buying Tamron's new VC version of this lens. That lens is a disaster. After missing several easy shots at my daughter's graduation due to the lens not focusing (instead, it hunted back and forth), I took the lens back to the store -- only to learn that other shooters had returned their Tamron VC 28-300mm lenses too. Another of my fellow journalists returned his for the same reason. He is still peeved that he blew an opportunity to get a $300 Nikon rebate on a combination D300 camera and lens purchase, because he chose to buy just the camera body and the Tamron VC lens instead. This non-VC Tamron 28-300mm Nikon-mount lens is great if you want or need to travel light by bringing only your camera with a single, attached lens. It has a great zoom range and auto-focuses well. Note that there are some Nikon models that this lens will not auto-focus with, so be sure to verify your application before ordering one. Granted this lens is not great in low light with older cameras, but the newer Nikons (including the D3, D300, D700 and others) have terrific low light sensitivity so the lens' low light capabilities do not matter that much. Simply set these camera bodies in their Auto-ISO mode, attach this Tamron lens and you'll be good to go for most situations. Using a relatively high shutter speed, my Nikon D3 and my aging Tamron lens, I was able to shoot sharp shots of a motorcycle stunt-jumping exhibition outside of the Palms hotel (in Las Vegas) at night, during the recent SEMA Show. The motorcycles, as they jumped high in the air, were lit only by a couple of spotlights. The results were amazing. I have repeatedly asked Nikon reps for such a lens from Nikon for use with their new, full frame cameras (D3 and D700). They tell me they cannot make one that would sell for a low enough price that people would be willing to pay. Go figure. Perhaps someday Nikon will listen and make such a lens available. In the meantime, especially considering there is now a $50 rebate on this Tamron lens, I am tempted to buy another of these for when (or if) mine finally wears out.

Please also read the reviews for the Canon CP760 as they almost all apply to this printer also. The only problem I have with this printer is the image optimize setting is reset to on when you turn the printer back on. Bites me every time!
Customer Review: This Printer is Great For Portability
Because I didn't want to dish out the overpriced dollars for the Canon iP100, I looked for something on a smaller priced scale. I did minimal research because I knew I wanted a Canon. The latest Canon CP780 does the job it's advertised. My printed photos are rich and colorful. One minute print times are okay, and the paper/ink sets (sold separately) fully coincide with the printer. I haven't had any snags or stuck papers. The printer doesn't take up any space at all in my living space. A couple of complaints. I agree with other reviewers about some of my photos having cut off heads during printing. It's only a few photos I've had a problem with, but it's not great. The other issue is the 4x6 photo size. I would love to have the option to print on 3x2 to make for an even more intimate photo collection. Currently, when my photos come up, I have to tweak the settings to print them on half a sheet. Now I have about 50 half sheets of unused photos! And no, you cannot use the other half of the photo for a different picture. It would be nice to have various sample sizes of paper (and cassettes) included in the box. One more thing is it would be nice to have a battery and bluetooth included. With current technology the way it is, the assumed portability of this printer, I should be able to open the box and start printing without going through the hassle of finding a plug, hooking it up, etc. That's why it's considered portable. I would pay an extra $20 for this printer if those items were included. My opinion. A note on customer service: My printer for some reason didn't come with the sample 5-sheet print pack, so instead of me sending the printer back, Amazon refunded me a small percentage. I love their customer service!

This is an incomprehensible instruction book written by someone trying to get a job with the manufacturer writing the incomprehensible manual that comes with the camera. It is mostly an exercise in inside baseball and rose throwing to the apparent geniuses who designed the camera. If you are someone who bought this book to figure out how your camera works you will do just as well putting a bag over your head when reading it. It is absolutely useless. The publisher of these books should have been run out of town for false pretenses years ago.
